The OID youth alliance programme is a series of projects aimed at actively engaging young people in Oyo State through activities like Sports, Apprenticeship Schemes, Mentoring, Capacity Development, Leadership, Positive Lifestyle, Talent Discovery and Nurturing, Vocational, Entrepreneurial, Agricultural Summit and Training
Furthermore the programme aims at lobbying for change to legislation to address the social inclusion of young people and their participation in developing an enabling community for youth development
There is a fundamental and aggressive drive to secure a sustainable source of energy to drive the development of communities across the length and breadth of Oyo State. Realising this goal will fast-track the development of the infrastructure of the state and boost the economy.
Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora(OID) believe that education plays a vital role toward alleviating poverty. OID is using its network to partner with educational bodies to set the ball rolling through the supply of books, computers and other resources to schools across the state with the aim of reinvigorating the culture of reading and intellectual research.
In addition competions that reward new innovations are being introduced to encourage participation and engagement.
Entrepreneurship and vocational projects are being pushed forward to create a broad scale of learning cross-board so that no one is left behind
The important role food plays in the positive growth of any community cannot be overstated.
Seyi Makinde’s vision on farming to end poverty will pave the way for an awakening of the state’s Agric & Food system by setting goals to double productivity and taking steps to reduce post-harvest loses. This is why Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora, in support of this vision will partner with various agricultural stakeholders to make this goal a reality.
Furthermore, OID will collaborate with the Food Retail Sector to facilitate the wide-scale availability of ‘free food’ to the vulnerable and underprivileged. There is also a drive in providing a stimulus of development for the farming Sector’ to attract a new generation of self sufficient mechanised farmers and retailers with access to the technology and resources required to rejuvenate this industry and attract foreign partnerships whilst developing a system that works to transform the lives of people in Oyo state
A programme aimed at providing practical hands-on training for job application and creation. This is a concerted effort to gradually change the general perception of job-seeking and advance beyond the culture of employee to employer status.
This effort is aimed at creating a system where valuable knowledge and skill can be passed on from generation to generation with the goal of maintaining a sustainable framework of structural and economical importance.
Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora(OID) will work with local and international Medical Practitioners in transforming lives by providing free medical outreach to strengthen and improve the existing health system by partnering with local hospitals, public health centres and other NGOs in Oyo State.
The outreach will particularly focus on provision of treatment against neglected diseases to reduce the risk to loss of lives to preventable and treatable illnesses.
